About Us
An idea. A research project. An analysis. A tool.
This class has inspired us to investigate a topic that we found to be prevalent among University students. In our research project, we explore the impacts on the GI system from cannabinoid use, as well as the stress that is commonly associated with being a student, particularly during COVID-19.
The Course That Started It All
EXMD 509: Gastrointestinal Physiology and Pathophysiology
As nursing students, we have learned about the human physiology. This course gave us the opportunity to delve deeper into the mechanism of our GI system and the main illnesses that can occur. Little did we know there was still so much to learn.
Research
Among the five of us, we have had a bit of research experience. This allowed us to understand how best to approach this project in a way that would gather the most pertinent information from the key demographic related to our research question:

How can the human GI system be influenced by external factors that are commonly experienced among University students, particularly the use of cannabinoids and the exposure to stress?
How We Got Here
Based on our survey, we were able to discover the main influences on the GI health of University students. From here, we began to reflect on how we can share this knowledge to help those affected.
What Now?
Now, we created this website as an educational tool to provide the general public with reliable and evidence-based information related to GI health and the influence of stress and cannabinoids on it, as well as some tips and tricks for keeping a healthy GI. We sought out reliable resources to make sure that you continue to inform yourselves properly on these topics.
